"Hymn to Red October" from, well, The Hunt for Red October. Grand stuff, my first Poledouris score, the reason I began singing in a Russian Choir etc.

I am enjoying this immensely, though with a sad heart.

Ever heard of the upcoming movie, Eragon? It is scored by our foremost Scottish composer, Pat Doyle, and some music can be heard on the film's official site.

A friend was so kind as to cull a 7-minute piece from there, and by God, it this glorious music. Think "The Goblet of Frankenstein".

I hope very much that there will be a soundtrack release eventually.

"Bean Theme (Mad Pianos)" from BEAN - THE MOVIE. Music by Howard Goodall.

I swear to the One Above that I have never heard a piece of music with more insane playing of the piano. Absolutely marvellous. Goodall takes his choral Bean theme from the TV series and transmutes it into a glorious orchestral piece, with the piano(s?) running amok beneath it all.

And that stop-and-go-cum-triangle is hilarious, too.

If you've got no clue what I'm talking about...have a nice weekend!

"Ceremony of the Sunstones" from Trevor Jones' Dinotopia. This great track has everything I love about Jones.

Don't hesitate to order htis from Intrada while they have it. Maybe a bit expensive, but well worth it!

THE NATIVITY STORY (Mychael Danna) - In Rosa Vernat Lilium

I am listening to the track for the 5th time in a row and its sooo fantastic! I liked LOTR-like vocal solos quite a lot, but never heard anything as catching as this... 5 minutes of goosebumps!
The whole CD is also very good, but In Rosa Vernat Lilium is probably my cue of the Year!

ERAGON (Patrick Doyle) - 01 - Eragon

The main theme developed during 5 minutes... just incredible. You can find a brief clip of the score in the neighbouring topic
Unfortunatelly when the CD is so short it combines one highlight of the score after another so the CD really has no weak moments altough it lacks some connecting cues as well.
My vote for the score of the year goes to Patrick Doyle again and looking forward to his upcoming As you like it, The Last legion and Have Mercy on us all
