Since there are a few mentions of THE SWARM: I like that movie. I like it a lot.


Not because it is good. But because it was an expensive attempt at another box office mother lode by Irwin Allen, and the movie was so ridiculously inept that even the Zucker/Abrahams team would have trouble making a parody out of it, the movie is already its own parody. It is funny as hell when you watch it in the right frame of mind. Imagine a movie where a lone surviving civilian on a military base where everyone has been wiped out by unknown forces when questioned how he got there gets away with an answer like "It's a complicated story, it starts a year ago, but let's skip that."

And that's just ONE funny line of many hilarious ones.

The Fury and Monsignor are two that instantly come to my mind. I thought the films were awkward messes, but Williams' scores were magnificent -- as if the he seemed able to convince himself he was scoring better films than he actually was!

Alexander was another -- a turgid, risible movie, but Vangelis' music was some of his finest.

RAISE THE TITANIC was one of the most boring films I have ever seen. Also a box office disaster. John Barry's music is majestic, though, especially during the scene where the ship is finally brought to the surface, which is superbly realised. It looks real.

Nothing comes to mind right now except worse movie/worse score. The prize would go to Cage starring Lou Ferrigno. The score by some hack named Michael Wetherwax is the most horrible piece of trash I've ever heard performed on cheap electronics.
