This is a great release - really looking forward to getting this set.

It will be a completely new take, musically, on this film and I look forward
to hearing it in complete form as well as Jarre's take on it as well.

Thanks so much Doug, Roger and the gang at Intrada for getting this out to us!... :-)

I can NOT STAND Jarre's music... HATE it! I just got through listening to the samples of his score.......MY GOD!!!!!!! I don't know how this music would've worked with the film, but as MUSIC....... IT................................IS..................................WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never thought I'd be saying THAT about Jarre's music! His score will more than likely get just as much play as Goldsmith's, which of course, is sublime!
And that IS a compliment!!!

Jarre has never been one of my favorite composers, but the excerpts from his unused score are excellent. I wonder why it was not used in the film?

I have to agree, that even though I also greatly dislike the music of Maurice Jarre, the samples were quite engaging and would really like to hear the complete score.

Seriously Doug and Roger and all you lovely peeps at Intrada this is a dream come true for me (not the jarre, the Goldsmith.)Although I am glad of the Jarre as it will be intrestin to compare. I saw this film like 5 times at the cinema when it was released coz I loved the music, the original album was short and bloomin hard to get hold of in the uk in 94. I did get it eventually but am soooooo glad to finally get the complete score.
So thank you, thank you and thank you!!

Have had a chance to play both discs from this tremendous release. The Goldsmith score is sublime one of his best without doubt but the revelation is the unused score by Maurice Jarre it is awesome! One wonders why it was rejected? Wouldn't it be great if sometime in the future there was a Blu Ray/DVD of the movie that offered us the option of viewing the film with both scores. Many thanks Doug and Roger. Looking forward to Rio Bravo.

The whole situation reeks of Sid Sheinberg, enemy of good music and all things cool in film (Legend, Brazil for example).....

It has never been confirmed, that I'm aware of, but I wonder if he was the executive behind
the Hindenberg-David Shire debacle (who's that singing? I can't hear the lyrics!?), which forced
Shire to reassign his instrumental parts around....much to the composer's chagrin.

The liner notes for this release refer to Gergely Hubais book 'Torn Music- Rejected Film Scores' I've managed to track down a copy this. A fascinating read, no collector should be without it. Don't know how I missed it.
