I love this release, but there are a couple of things bugging me.

1. Any idea why "Mark of the Saurian" was left off? Were the tapes unavailable? It surely can't be a matter of space, as there should be plenty of spare room on the discs (especially if one were to have left off those two annoying vocal versions of the end theme, and the early season 1 version of the opening, which was never heard on a season 2 episode).

You'd think if the tapes were missing (or in poor condition), that it might have been mentioned in the liner notes.

2. Someone on another board says there is at least one missing cue from "Time of the Hawk" (during, or at the end of, Buck and Hawk's big fist-fight). Again, any idea what happened? Unavailable (or unusable) source elements, or some other reason?


If the tapes for "Saurian" DO exist, that would be that much more that could go onto a theoretical "Volume 3 mop-up" release!

Even if the tapes for that episode exist, remember that it's said to cost the most amount of money to transfer the music; the number of CDs pressed is relatively miniscule in cost. $40 is probably at about the tipping point of what most interested customers will pay for this stuff.

This volume contains 4 hours and 30 minutes of Buck Rogers music and people talk about a missing cue. "Are you not entertained?!"

I understand you; that line was just a poor attempt at humor on my part.

With television series music, it is a miracle when there is only a missing reel here and there as this previously unreleased stuff was not intended for an album, let alone a comprehensive set of albums. I just don't want the lack of archival completeness to discourage labels from doing other television releases that may cover a relatively small portion of the total recorded music.

There are many more Universal TV series with rich music for Intrada to do (the very least of which being the famous works of Mike Post and Pete Carpenter that should still be quite marketable among the general populace), so it wouldn't be so bad in my mind for them to move on with the current pace at Universal not being among the quickest. I'd say that even if there is no Volume 3 of Buck Rogers, we made out very well with the over seven and a half hours of music from the two current sets.

As for wanting the complete theatrical score, I thought Roger said that the tapes for that are missing and the album is all that exists.
