2013 was a good year for scores despite what curmudgeons may say. Great picks with Romeo & Juliet and Stalingrad, the former being one of my favorites of this decade and I very much look forward to getting the latter.

A noteworthy score that will probably make nobody's top ten list is John Debney's score for Jobs. It works wonders for the film and the main theme couldn't be better in capturing my idea of the essence of Steve Jobs.

Obvious picks would be Philomena and Saving Mr. Banks. Beltrami did a fantastic job with A Good Day to Die Hard; he served Kamen's imprint on the series very well with that one.

Yeah, there's no getting around how terrible of a film A Good Day to Die Hard is.

It's good to have a composer like Beltrami who can invoke a plethora of colorful ideas into a busy action score. The full expression of the lovely theme for the McClane family makes for an excellent culmination. I'm sure Kamen would have been very proud of Beltrami's work here.
