Jewel cases for all of the above reasons.

Jewel case. The reason is the same as Eh Tar said.
I get 1-2 packages monthly now, and every time I get 1 CD (minimum!) with broken case, which I replace rather quick.
So, only jewel case!

I have a personal preference for Jewel Cases.

- They tend to be more durable than cardboard-based digipaks.
- They are more easily replace if they get damaged.
- They provide uniformity on the shelf with most of my current CD collection.

I'm not against a DigiPak if it truly is the best way to present the score, and there are some beautifully produced DigiPak sets, but I honestly prefer standard Jewel cases for the reasons above.

It should be noted that it is really a minor issue for me personally though, and has no real impact on whether or not I purchase a release.

After all, the music is king/queen in all cases.

My generic preference voted and stated, but your judgment must take precedence of course. :)

I wonder whether it's the rumored Intrada release of JAWS, that they are considering a digipak packaging for?,
because my Decca/Universal copy of JAWS, is in a digipak  ...................

If it is a box set of a series (for example Jaws, Psycho or Airport... not asking much I hope) - I know Intrada never did one of these before, but maybe it is a possibility - I like digipacks in the style of the Indiana Jones release (each disc having its indidual artwork and all protected by an outside box... well, even in a multiple jewel case with just a cover and a back cover, the booklet could have individual artwork for each film)

If its a 2 disc set I like jewel cases better. In general I think jewel cases are better for the reasons already mentioned by most in this thread, specially being less subject to damage.

I'm very happy to see this kind of customer-friendly approach. Intrada shows once more they really care for collectors' opinion. Voted "jewel" for same reasons already mentioned above. Thank you Intrada!

I replace all my jewel cases with thin vinyl sleeves which contain the disc(s) and artwork, which means that I voted for jewel case (since you cannot do this with digipack unless you toss everything but the liner booklet). I recycle the cases, once I have replaced them with the sleeve. However, in reality I would be perfectly happy to receive ONLY the discs and artwork, in a stiff cardboard mailer, and skip the rest of the packaging altogether.

Jewel case you can't get any better than perfection.

I placed my vote and went with jewel case. Not a fan of digipaks. My CE3K and Jaws are digipaks and haven't weathered the years very well.

If I wanted to save a lot of printing costs...
I would skip the digipack and go straight to mini-LP styled sleeve with full liner notes available online via the Intrada page. A 2 sided sleeve should be cheaper to print (and have replacements on hand per request (like a booklet or inlay card).

Mail costs would go way down, only for Intrada mini LPs of course.
Less liner note typos, that can be eliminated via editing an online posting.
For a 3CD set, a digipack would come into play, but how often does Intrada do a triple? Rarely, like the new Buck Rodgers set.

The only issue with a sleeve is no spine, for me with decades of collecting on my shelf, it'll just look weird with a sudden influx of cardboard over plastic.

I like all formats. Not sure what the difference is between digitpak and mini LP but those little Dagored Morricone CD's in cardboard sleeves that look like tiny LP jackets are strangely fascinating and neat as hell. And isn't dagored a slang for Italian vino?
