I've been a fan of Max Steiner's Adventures of Don Juan for quite a while. I have the CD produced by BYU/FMA that was created from the original acetate transcription discs dating back to 1949. While this sounds great, there are limits to what modern technology can do with 50 year old source elements.
However, in 1981, Ian Fraser adapted Steiner's "Don Juan" music for the George Hamilton comedy Zorro, The Gay Blade. 20th Century Fox seems to have a good history of preserving their scores in pristine condition. Any chance that Intrada might make a go of producing this score as a way of getting a cleaner and more "technically" advanced version of Steiner's music?
