OK... I guess the score of such importance and quality must have been on radar of many labels but after almost 20 years since the movie was released, there is still no decent score album available... What are actually chances of seeing one happening any time soon?

Over at FSM someone mentioned that MCA is also blocking possibility of expanded Out of Africa album, which is a constantly good seller for them. Is Apollo 13 the same scenario and that old MCA crap (pardon my french) is the only reason the score hasn't been released yet? With so many reissues it would be hard to believe that this one is possible, but just not a priority for anyone...


So... is the promo the only option for the time being and there is still point in getting one of those?

Universal just announced a new 20th Anniversary Blu-ray featuring a brand new 4K scan of the original film's negative as its source.



It's coming out on June 2 of this year.

1995 was a massively successful year for James Horner, with APOLLO 13, BRAVEHEART, BALTO, JUMANJI, CASPER and finally JADE (released on LLL in 2010), and an anniversary-themed expansion of one of those scores, especially this score, would indeed be perfectly timed.

Of course that sort of thing doesn't really occur for score albums much, but if there's ever a perfect time, here it is.

This would be among the top scores from Horner, IMHO.
