In the end, it all comes down to personal preference: the composer's, the CD producers', and our own. I do not think that there is anything wrong with asking what an upcoming album's assembly is going to be like and/or expressing one's own preferences. What Doug did for Conan shows that you get people on both sides of the aisle; I didn't crunch numbers on this specific score, but you will always end up with a product that completely pleases one group of listeners while slightly "irking" another group.
Doug, Regina and I talked briefly about that when I visited with Intrada back in December. There will always be people who will cry foul over the most minute of things. In Conan's case, there is one cross-fade (on CD 2, I believe) that was not on the 1992 Varese CD and having listened to that CD for over 10 years, it's the version I am used to. The new Intrada version simply doesn't work as well.
For me. But this is an exceedingly minor issue, and I'll have forgotten about it after another 20 seconds or so. And it is no reason for me to rant and vent at either Intrada and/or Basil Poledouris. Maybe the Pope, but that's another matter!
If Young Sherlock Holmes is eventually going to be released, in whatever way, I'll be happy because I can finally retire the CDr copy I have of the score. Once again, the 2CD-promo from 2002 is the version I am used to listen to, but that takes a backseat to the fact that the score is finally going to be available for all to enjoy.
So much for the moment, I hope everyone (and Yor) is doing well.

Ta & tata, Christian
