Just broke open my copy of this (and CAHILL) which arrived in lightning fast time today--way to go, hamsters. Can't wait to sample this in depth.

By the way, the picture on page 6 of the booklet is actually from STALAG 17, with William Holden in the center, RIchard Erdman in the upper right, with Neville Brand in the lower right. Don't know who the blond kid is. (Sorry, Joe, I'm just kidding--I know how hard it is to find enough graphics to work from once in a while.)

there is a scene in EFA where the cons are watching a WWII flic.

You know, as you say that, I believe you may be right, Bruce. As another Paramount AND Siegel film, it would make sense AND be a great in-joke.

This is a terrific album and the Fielding is spellbinding, though not for the faint of heart. If anything, it's even more experimental than DEMON SEED. I can see why I always came away thinking there was not much music in the film as the score so often skates on the edge of almost being more "sound design" and ambient, twisting around the sound effects in such a way that you probably don't realize what's working on you. This hits right into my taste for intelligently conceived avant garde.

And the neat thing is, right in the middle of something pretty "out there," you can suddenly recognize moments uniquely Fielding.

Nice Job, Mr. Kendall, Mr. Fake, Mr. Feigelson, and Mr. Malone, et al. Once again, I appreciate your courage in putting out such an innovative score.

Received this today. Although Alcatraz is the second score on the disc it is used for the left spine so I can wonderfully display it in my Intrada-Fielding collection.
I love this little detail and care by the labels! So Intrada did everything right with this one. Thanks again for releasing another Fielding!

It's great to get the original version of the End title!!!!
The one used in the film is shorter, and is partly a cut & paste job of the Main Titles (the snare drum bit).

No info was provided on this in the notes.

I can sort of see where Doug is coming from. Seeing people nitpick your hard work is fine in moderation, but it mounting up can become very annoying and create a virtual shit storm in your own mind.
