Admittedly I'm never really been a follower of Nitzsche's work, but I watched the film the other day (which is great, btw) and the main titles really capture the tone of the film well -- eerie, off-kilter, sad. I don't think a soundtrack was ever released, but it might be a good pairing with something else. Anyone else a fan of this film/score?

Matt

Love this Main Title, saw the movie for the first time about 2 years ago and the thing that stuck with me was Nitzsche's score.

I do have something homemade from this as it is great to listen too. I remember seeing the trailer to this when it arrived and the music stood out real well...
I´m not too familiar with Nitzsche otherwise except his great score to John Carpenters Starman

I think we asked for Cutters Way in a thread before but I´ll gladly sign up for a release of this great score...

Actually we used to get asked for this a lot - often under the title CUTTER AND BONE - way back when the idea of limited edition soundtracks was a new idea. Nothing ever came of it, of course. Perhaps the time will come one day. It is an intriguing score.

John Heard is unrecognizable in the role as Cutter, one of the best performances by an actor I've ever seen.

Jeff Bridges is one of my favourite actors, but in this movie I have to hand it to John Heard.

Nitzsche's score some times reminds me of Mark Isham's darker bits from THE HITCHER (another favourite on the shelf).

Anything by Jack Nitzsche would be great. I have several of his scores on vinyl, to my ears, always exceptional and original.

The single Pat Boone LP I own features Jack "Specks" Nitzsche and Ryland Cooder in the musician credits. Jack Nitzsche and Ry Cooder, would never pass up scores by either of those guys.

I bet this would appeal to fans of the paranoid post-Watergate thriller scores of Michael Small and David Shire. The opening cue over the parade is one of the most subtle, threatening damn things. I don`t characterize it as sad but as knowing--the musical cynic telling us we`re about to see good crushed by the evil larger forces, and isn`t that what you expect? That sound he carried over from the end of Cuckoo`s Nest--can`t decide if it was a saw or glass harmonica, too lazy to go get the dvd--might have become his ondes m. but he used it judiciously. Am trying to think of another score of his it might go with [I bet Cuckoo`s Nest is taken by Saul Zaentz or whoever].
