I agree with every single word Douglass Fake just said up there.



Especially since sucking up to the powers in charge is now the only way to get to those spare copies of Inchon.

Could the marketing geniuses that keep bashing Intrada (and, in the same sentence, praising theme) please explain how obvious it was that 1500 Inchon would sell out within 30 hours or so, and why it was obvious any Goldsmith title, even a 3000-unit release, would sell out yet please everyone, when (in the real & harsh world of facts):
- the previous release had not sold out in ten years
- such limited Goldsmith titles as Justine, Alien Nation, Studs Lonigan, Breakheart Pass, ..., are available, along with even more limited titles by other great composers?

I am no businessman, but I can perfectly understand and guess on my own that those remaining copies are a financial loss: the plants that produce the booklets and the CDs have been paid, transport for those extra (1000? 1500?) copies has been paid, storage has to be found and maybe expanded for those growing piles of unsold CDs, ...

Why should Intrada, Varèse, La-La Land, SAE, BuySoundtrax, Prometheus, ..., support such high costs for hundreds of unsold copies? Just so people can wait ten years before buying them? And when they do, they'll complain that "the mastering is not up to today's new standards"!

There was no way at all to foresee it. Heck, I still can't believe Inchon sold faster than Bandolero!.

There is also a good side to it, though. I mean, look, Inchon moved 1500 copies in lesst than day or so. That means Intrada quickly recouped their cost and made a little profit on this release, and it's off the shelf and out of the inventory. Imagine it would have bombed and sold only 200 copies, with the rest gathering dust for another ten years or so. Which option is more likely to ensure such quality efforts in the future?

I'll end up owning it anyway. I'd rather have given Itrada their twenty bucks instead of whatever else I'll spend

At this point I am locking up the INCHON threads just to keep the world from crumbling. More accurately, the subject has been dragged so far into the ground it's no longer entertaining. I hope people can just accept the fact that we made a judgment call about our initial pressing quantity and whether it made sense to re-press beyond that number. It was our call to make and we did what we felt best. If you truly disagree with our decisions, feel free to put up your own money and an incredible amount of time and energy and develop your own CD series. Then the rest of us can anticipate your choices, argue with them, complain, label you inept, call you an idiot, whatever.

Some people might derive pleasure out of this. I just want to move on to our next release.

Consider this topic beaten beyond death and now locked.
