The whole concept that these CDs are somehow more important as cult objects to be worshipped and hoarded for their future monetary return, is just basically really sad for those of us who loved Jerry and his music. So we'll go spend $150 on eBay for what will probably end up being a CD-R just so that 'capitalism' can triumph over an actual appreciation of Goldsmith's music.

I agree, burn the master tapes! That 'limited edition of 1500' label on the CD is BY FAR the most important aspect of this release. The actual musical content appears to be the last thing of interest to anyone here...

Sorry, but 1,500 is far too conservative. I thought it would have been pretty obvious that this was going to be a popular title given the nature of its content and well, the fact that it was Jerry Goldsmith should warrant a run of at least 3,000. Is it so bad that you may have a few remaining in stock and on the shelf for a while longer, at least until the genuine fans get a chance to obtain their CD, rather than it ending up on ebay ( I noticed one today at a staggering $200.00 buy now) at a ridiculous and inflated price.
I'm sorry, but I find lame comparisons such as comparing INCHON with the likes of the LOST series 2 Soundtrack as nothing more than a fine balancing act simply unacceptable and dare I say insulting? It results in nothing other than a clear lack of foresight, and of course simply adds fuel to fire in creating a lucrative, overpriced and more often than not, illegal CD-r market.

I guess this first post of mine will win me no friends, but hell, I have to sleep at night..

That was my first post and I felt compelled to join to simply express that opinion..

Anyway, I just wanted to Add to what I think is a very important point mentioned by crwdfwtx This whole "The Special Limited Edition very rare, in fact, so rare that you should buy up every conceivable copy so It can later sell on ebay at a massively inflated price" concept, it can't really help things, can it?

Surely by advertising the fact that it is so limited can only encourages the money spinners to "invest" in the product. Their interest is on the good deal with the great turnaround, and probably holds no real interest in the music whatsoever.
Is it a necessity to print or announce just how many units are actually pressed, is it not just putting a match to the fuse? Personally, I feel it is just used these days as a marketing tool to deploy the stock as quickly as possible, which (as I think it's done here) sometimes results in them ending up in the wrong hands.

For what it's worth, I believe it would be an excellent idea if Intrada would consider pressing some additional copies of the "INCHON" soundtrack. I had only learned about the score's avaialbilty after the fact, and it is extremely frustrating that more advanced warning wasn't put out.

It is a Marketing ploy, I am glad you recognize that and hopefully many other people do too. Like previously stated it took TEN years to sell 1,500 copies of the first Inchon. Granted times have changed, but 10 years is a very long time to sit on that amount of inventory. The name of the game is cash flow, if your money is tied up in inventory you cannot use that money elsewhere. So, less money for new releases.

Yeah there are pros and cons to everything you do in business and obviously at this point the limited edition marketing ploy has more pros than cons which is why it is still used. When it is no longer effective OR the cons outweigh the pros then I am sure businesses will adapt and do what is necessary to stay a profitable company.

Absolutely you are entitled to your own opinion, I think the thing is that the whole Inchon thing is getting a bit tiresome and I apologize if I took it out on you as that was not my intention. I feel bad for those who did not get a chance at getting this release, but feel that Intrada made the right decision in the end. I just think that unless someone wants to start their own soundtrack label and do things how they see fit, we should move on with our lives and leave the decision making in the very capable hands of the soundtrack labels. They seem to have made many correct decisions since they have been around much longer than many of us have even been collecting.

Now to the more important question, What is the release on Monday going to be????????????????????????????
