George Shaw has had quite a year and released number of CDs through his bandcamp page. His latest, DRIVING BY BRAILLE, is imho one of the most beautiful scores of 2011 and some of its moments incorporating solo piano would make Georges Delerue proud.
There is only two cues available to listen at the moment and while the first of them is simply beautiful presentation of roadmovie-like main theme, it is just a tip of an iceberg. The whole album, running almost 50 minutes, is highly variable: from touching solos for piano and glockenspiel (or guitar), through some playful moments for marimba, vibraphone, occarina and percussions to more experimental stuff like brief "Schoenberg and Cerealism" cue and a few ambient/meditative sequences incorporating more electronics before the score reaches heartbreaking conclusion with its final cues and makes a full circle returning to another variation of the main theme at the very end of the album.
Highly recommended album, which will be most likely listed at my top 10 of 2011 along another George Shaw's fantastic score for Flashback released a few weeks earlier.
