Please keep the tracks separate.

If you have some additional space and it isn't too much effort for you guys, put the film-version at the end of the album as a bonus track.

Thank you!

Keep the tracks seperate for one simple example: the 2CDs of Empire Strikes Back.

When they culled all of the Hoth sequences into one 20 minute long suite, it was hell to get through. All joy was lost because now if I wanted to just hear "Battle In The Snow" I had to fastforward through 5 minutes of music. Not to mention that the edits are very obvious with newer speakers. By keeping the tracks seperate on Conan, people 5 or 10 years from now won't be complaining about outdated crossfade software joining the music together. (I wouldn't complain but theres some anal retentive types out there).

(And not to mention: Its easier for fans to take three seperate tracks and assemble them into one track if they so wish than it is for them to take one track and split it into three seperate ones.)

For me honestly I would prefer the seperate tracks please.

My preference would be to flow the cues seamlessly together BUT to index/list them as separate tracks.

That way you preserve the integrity of how Poledouris crafted the music, but each track can be accessed separately, thereby avoiding The Empire Strikes Back nonsense.

Thanks for asking for our views :-)

I just love the Battle of Hoth (14'48) track. It's an intense action sequence as a whole and it's great that way. If I want to listen to "The Battle in the Snow" (which was isolated for the album) I go back to the original album. And for me the crossfading is seamless...

I'd rather the cues be retained in one long cue, only because I don't like my cues too short. The longer the music, the longer the contrast can shine, uninterrupted, in one area of an album. Music should be on-going, and only separated if it makes musical sense. I know in this case, it can, but Basil did originally have these ideas fused for the film's assembly. Let's go with a long, smooth, musical journey. Besides, Basil got his way already. ;)

Nobody wants a 15 minute track. That's why I suggested 15 minutes (or whatever) of uninterrupted music, split into 3 separate tracks.

It makes sense for me :

Milan = album presentation
Intrada = film presentation

Please go with the film assembly. Most of us only go with what we have heard already and are simply used to the way it has been presented before. You on the other hand have heard this new assembly and have given it high praise. This is good enough for me.

If I want separate, I'll listen to what has come before. If I want this new and fresh dynamic, then I listen to the Intrada version.

Been done before Vs. Intrada's version.

I, too, would love to have each of the cues from a sequence into a separate track.
However, as a suggestion, I would present the cues for the album into one track, as the composer intended, but put chapter marks to separate the sequence into cues. This was done in the The Red House suite on RCA’s CD release of The Classic Film Scores of Miklos Rozsa. This way, you satisfy both the purists who want to hear the sequence as the composer intended and the other group who wants to jump to a particular cue without scrolling. I wish Varese would have done that for the album release of Susupect —a 40 minute album with 2 long tracks.
This will also free up disc space--to add bonus tracks, etc.
