As I understand it, the movie was made to go along with the opening (?) of the .

Right in front of the hotel (I stayed there about ten years ago), there's a large basin where they hold a show every night; two ships (one pirate and one French) fight each other, with stunts and pyrotechnics. The whole show is played to selections from the score.


Incidentally, I was planning to listen to this score, after watching PotC--TCotBP last night to prepare for the sequel next week; so yesterday and today I listened to pirate and water scores-- but haven't gotten to playing TI:TAB yet.
I bought the score in the hotel, but not the video; I did get a splendid T-shirt, though.

Yes, it's a theme score to some LV promotion. Couldn't find to exactly what theme or theme park this was created for.
->edit: I see someone was quicker: just found the TI hotel info myself.

I wonder why such rousing, large orchestra efforts are not being released commercially. Hunting these promotional stuff takes much time (and money) many can't afford.
Chris Stone reminds me of Williams Ross, lots of compositions done, but so many only available on promotional disc only.

I had to retrieve the disc to check, but then, before getting back to the computer, I spent some time watching some incredible resorts built by a South African billionaire of Russian descent (a TV program devoted to palaces); they were showing his , and concluded on his plans for a I-forget-the-name resort in Dubai.

Anayway: as I recalled, the cover of TI:TAB does depict the hotel in the background; the credits also state the movie is a Mirage Resorts production-- Treasure Island and The Mirage are sister hotels (sister? brother?).
(1994; I went in 1995.)


I see the show has been re-vamped into :
"The Sirens of TI begins with a 17th century clash between a group of beautiful, tempting sirens and a band of renegade pirates. With their mesmerizing and powerful song the Sirens lure the pirates to their cove, stir up a tempest strong enough to sink a ship, and transform Sirens’ Cove into a 21st century party. Still pirates and ships, but hotter.



As for the music, it's a really really good pirate score indeed.
