Afternoon, everyone -
I just got out of a screening of a new documentary on the music of the great Georges Delerue at the Egyptian here in L.A. All manner of local film music luminaries were in attendance. Damn' good show overall, hopefully those who can't attend special screenings such as this will get to see it someday.
During the Q&A afterwards, Delerue's harpist Gail Levant mentioned a score for a silent film version of "Casanova" that Delerue wrote in 1986 or thereabouts and subsequently recorded with Levant and 16 other Los Angeles musicians. The music was performed a few times around the world, presumably to accompany showings of the film, in the years thereafter. She spoke very highly about the music, which was hardly surprising considering this event was very much a Delerue love-fest, but I confess to being immoderately intrigued by the thing.
I wonder if there's any chance of a CD release of this? Small ensemble so it shouldn't cost too terribly much to deal with re-use fees, etc. Or am I wrong? In any case, I can't be the only one who wants to hear this, right?
