I'm listening to Harry and the Hendersons. Why? I love Bruce and was always disappointed with the brevity of the LP, so it's fun to revisit in its entirety and revel in all the great stuff that was left off before. Just a great score overall.

Currently... I am having a Christopher Young day. (vacation day here) Starting with PRANKS and THE POWER on LP. Right now... I have the CD Intrada did a while ago with DEF CON 4 (love the theme for this), AVENGING ANGEL and a couple of others on right now. Needless to say, the speakers are getting a workout. :)

I have a long way to go...

I'm listening to Elmer Bernstein's THE YOUNG DOCTORS! I think it has his greatest theme period. I also have not been able to listen to this CD for a long time because it was one of the few that would not play in my old CD player. Just got a new Onkyo SACD player at the beginning of the week and it plays the disc perfectly.

Lately I've been cleaning out my Wish List over at Screen Archives and Joel McNeely's score for "Wild America" finally walked through my door this afternoon. It's playing right now. Why? Because I can't turn it off!! This has been on my radar since the film came out, but for no particularly good reason I never actually picked it up. If Hollywood was making more westerns, I'd like to think McNeely would be scoring a bunch of them - his "wide open spaces" music is second to none, I think, and his rollicking action cues more unabashedly fun than anyone else's I can think of. "Gold Diggers" is a great listen too. :D

I have Project X in the car stereo. As to why, well with all the Horner stuff being released of late (48 Hours, Gorky Park) I decided to revisit some of his other scores. Project X just happended to be on top of one of the various cd stacks at home when I left this morning so I grabbed it.

I'm listening to Sky Pirates (Brian May) because I was in need of a terrific 80's adventure score and knew for sure this one delivers the adrenaline ! I was sitting in front the hundreds of CDs, waiting for my prey, and then my eyes were attracted by Missing in Action 2. But I finally grabbed Sky Pirates. So many preys and only one arrow... MIA2 will certainly be the next ! ^^

True Grit -- the Bernstein version -- because every time I read an article about how wonderful the remake is (and I saw it), I'm reminded how much better (Kim Darby aside) the original was and how unoriginal this so-called "darker, more faithful to the book" wannabe everybody's celebrating is.

Well I warm up my CD player with Rocky IV (a grale released in 2010) and then give my speakers its run for the money with 48hrs...
WHY? Because I love it...it´s as simple as that. This is the kind of music that made me take notice about moviescores and a prime example of an awsome release done 100% right in presentation.
Horners best? You bet ya´ and it is an action score from the 80´s that is up there with First Blood, Rambo, Predator, Robocop, Iron Eagle, Highlander and ofcourse Conan the Barbarian

Welcome back (hopefully to stay) CocoJoe!

Yesss - just yesterday, i was putting on 48 Hrs. - full power. A nice dram of a special 17 year-old Lagavulin, 48 Hrs. on my JBL 300 Watts speakers - and heeeellloo bliss!!!

Why? Maybe because I've been hoping for this one ever since first seeing the movie in '83? Or possibly because it's sounding so damn great as if it were recorded yesterday? Definitely because it's one of my 3 top loved Horner scores ever!

NP: Nothing, as I'm at work in the office 8)

Best,
Burnie

Not a film score, Hoochie Cooche Man (Jimmy Smith) CD release of a 1966 Verve LP arranged and conducted by Oliver Nelson. A really nice recording I purchased factory sealed today, decided to give it an immediate spin on the car stereo. Manufactured in Russia with glossy, digitpack cover and original front/back LP art . A quality reissue of a classic LP.

I'm listening to POLTERGEIST over and over, because the recent FSM re-issue has left me no choice. I'm right back at the level of obsession I had for the piece way back in 1982, only more so, if that's even possible. My current favorite track? "Night Visitor" is like a sinfonietta of all the great qualities of this score.

Like a lot of other posters on here, I am usually listening to a piece of music because it bubbled up in my brain somehow during the day. In fact, that is my most reliable sign that I finally "get" the piece.
