Hey Goblin: copies of the Kamen Sax Concerto are available "practically" for free in many places like half.com and amazon. In know that's not "practical", but anyway I agree with you.... I too like to spread the music around, as opposed to those hoarders who think it's some kind of badge of honor to be an "owner" of a rare score. I have a "friend" who's like that-- I've given him many many copies of scores he didn't have to enjoy, but he's never returned the favor with the three or four he has that I don't. Those are HIS CD's, and they are not to be enjoyed by others!

Did you know that the Sax Concerto was out on DVD as well?

Glad to find another fan of this work - I am constantly boasting of how great it is I have the laserdisc of it (didn't know it made to DVD!), and like the 20min. interview/profile of Kamen, but was let down by the dizzying music video recreation of the concerto. I would have rather had a straightforward video of the recording.

Not to sound like a pollyanna, but YES, sharing music that others may not know of or be able to obtain is a great way to go! This art form is quirky enough as it is, hoarding is bad!

This is not me (yet), but I don't see anything wrong with buying stuff just because it is a limited release. I have a limited amount of money, so right now, I only buy what I know I will want to listen to. However, when I am out there working a real job (and thus money is far less "limited"), I will have no problem buying every Intrada and Varese release. I won't be weighing whether or not it's worth my money for X amount of listens. I like what Varese and Intrada are doing, so I would automatically buy their releases to support them. Maybe I would like it, maybe not.
