But had they sold out in two and a half weeks (plenty of time to get in on two sets of releases for shipping purposes and other labels as well, etc), it probably wouldn't have changed much either, would it have?

I truly think some people are really selfish. I've missed out on several titles myself and I don't blame Intrada for that. We should just feel lucky the music has been preserved on CD. That means the masters have been retrieved, that a new digital master has been created, that means thousands of copies in the world, preserving the music to vanish without a trace, that means a very important piece of film music history has been saved from extinction...

And the ONE thing you just think about, is that you won't have YOUR copy, and you just spit on Intrada for that, who's saved so much of our beloved film music in the past, and will continue to do so. Thank you Intrada. I truly value your precious work here, even when I don't OWN it.

The only fiasco is what you make it, if you miss out , well you miss out, Ive missed out many many times , thats life get over it, I mean its not like we have nothing to listen too.
Make the best out of life instead of wasting energy fussing over something you have no control over.

I know we want fairness and to be treated right but you know what , life is unfair and the world wont always treat you right, thats it.

and I Really dont mean what this is going to sound like but think about what you are getting really mad about , a cd with music on it.
There are more important things to concern ourselves about than cds dont ya think.

Hopefully people will understand one significant element of all of this discussion from my vantage point. I'm trying to make Intrada a destination that people will visit as often as they do any other soundtrack site... if not even more frequently. I do get weary of customers who mention they missed something because they only check our Forum and site once a week or so, while they follow other destinations on a daily or even hourly basis.

I can't expect people to check here as often as they check their email or whatever but I sure can hope that they'll visit our shop online more often than two or four times a month.

As to pre-announcing... we've been there, done that. People should remember that we have been around for 25 years and have tried all manner of approaches, from major world-wide distribution through independent distribution, brick and mortar stores, unlimited quantities and whatever. In this internet age, I think our current system works best for us. We generate interest with a variety of "clues" and try to encourage people to visit us regularly. I honestly think our announcements are the most reliable and scheduled of all the labels doing soundtracks and we are pretty effective at hitting our release dates on time as well as managing to begin shipping within 24 hours of the announcements.

No one can say with a straight face that Roger and I don't engage in feedback with our customers. Keep in mind our audience once was truly excited just to see a release happen. Wow, RED DAWN came out! Look, there's THE FINAL CONFLICT at last! There was real joy in all of this. Now we regularly hear negative comments about various labels, what they're up to, their quantities, the editing, the sequencing, the artwork, the liner notes, musician noises, you name it. Talk about trying to hit a moving target. Ultimately we have to try and make the best decisions we can with regards to operating our label and getting this fantastic music out to people. Hopefully we'll hit the mark more often than we miss it so we can keep on going for another 25 years.
