Too early for video, maybe 16mm, but most likely 35mm. I recall it was broken up into segments, rather than shown as a single film, if my memory of Raksin's comments on the SPFM cd are accurate. I'm not that interested in the film, but I'd like to hear more of Raksin's score.

The Redeemer is in fact the Spanisch film El Redentor. Raksin wrote the score for the US-version of the movie, while José Munoz Molleda was the composer of the original cut.

Is a copy of this score in the Library of Congress collection? It may be possible to check this on-line, if one has access to the LOC.

Good to have a discussion of David Raksin. I have always enjoyed hearing him being interviewed. He frequently showed up on Canadian television. I also recall that he scored a documentary "The Olympics: A History of the Golden Games" for CBC (The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). Anyone know if this one was recorded in Canada? Georges Delerue, Lee Holdridge, and Elmer Bernstein, among others, have been known to use Canadian orchestras for recording their scores.

Some websites mention that Raksin is responsible for some Olympic fanfares. It would be cool if an Olympics-themed release could include Raksin's contributions.

"The Redeemer" is still available under the title "Life Of Christ: Mysteries of the Rosary" in three parts. "The Redeemer" is part two, now called "The Sorrowful Mysteries." All three tapes were part of one production, all scored by Raksin (who is credited on the tapes).
