It's totally relevant. I'm not certain how you can say it isn't. FSM instated their policy with the explanation that many of the parties that they had to deal with had very strong opinions on the subject; in the past they would review bootlegs just as much as legitimate releases. The landscape upon which these labels exist is very different from what it was fifteen years ago, and if some of the fans feel a bit protective of those labels, consider how relatively limited choices were only twenty-five years ago.

You know, this has been quite a fascinating discussion. No one here has advocated the proliferation of bootlegs but we all have different viewpoints as to where to draw the line between and technical "crime" and a basic one, and most importantly, at what point it affects the entities that matter...the labels. I think if nothing else, this is probably why characters like Batman are so popular because of how legal lines are blurred haha. Either way, I always welcome and respect the view points of the individuals on this and the FSM boards even if I don't necessarily agree. It is rare to find people who can intelligently and articulately argue points no matter if they are opinion based to fact based. Cheers to all.

You asked, I'm trying to explain why people feel the way they do. I'm not going to debate it any further except to say you're probably right that everyone here has indeed done something shady at some point or another (and Justin is certainly no saint when it comes to file-sharing, this I know), but that just because millions of people are doing a wrong thing doesn't necessarily make it right.

To return to the topic at hand:

I'd been listening to this disc, Predator 2 and Predators over the course of the day. The clarity and explosive sound of the first film's score only make the second sound that much worse in comparison (I'm referring to the sonics, not the score, which I think is very exciting). It's interesting how much of the first film's score ended up getting reworked into the second while not being a complete retread, which is a criticism often leveled at Back To the Future Part II.

I have to say that the specific performance and electronics heard in the main theme for the first film hasn't yet been equaled, either in the sequel (where the electronics were gone) or in Predators, where the electronics go in a more thrash metal direction (which I have to admit I liked).

What I find kind of fascinating is how people are going out of their way to justify both sides - making a CD-R copy for yourself and selling the original/making a CD-R copy for someone versus thinking either of those are capital crimes.

I find it kind of fascinating because it makes me ask the question of why does anyone feel the need to justify anything in the first place since it's all talk on a messageboard, meaning if someone does make CD-Rs for a friend or sells a disc used and keeps mp3s of it or something, that's their personal business that has nothing to do with anyone else, so much so that if it wasn't mentioned in the first place, no one would have ever have known about it and the argument wouldn't have started.

I'm not taking sides because I don't particularly care to. I'm just making this little insignificant observation. It's something I've wondered about for years, that need people have to justify things on boards, not just this issue but any personal choice really, when there's no real stake in it or need to at all. I suppose it's all in the need to make deep conversation and debate, but that's only a guess.

As for the subject of this thread, I've never seen or heard "Predator", movie or score. Heard OF it, obviously, but that's it.

All I know of it is that the recent Blu-ray re-release was considered to be a total disgrace, since it was scrubbed and DNR'ed to the point of making the whole thing look like a soft-focus plastic movie with wax figures standing in for people, all fine details gone.
