By all accounts, this is a masterful release. But at $110, it's simply not for me...

Yep, me too, & with p&p & customs, very expensive. The two-disc complete soundtrack is mono, I'd buy the single stereo disc, but that's not the deal. Oh well, the two Intradas next week might be two I really want.

Wow, Townson put some time into this one! Everyone talked so highly of this
being the grail of all grails! With the price tag and all the extra stuff, I do not
know if I will be able to get it. I am not one (as others have already read here)
that likes when cues/pieces which are performed/interpreted and we have:

CD 5 AND 6 - SPARTACUS LOVE THEME AND VARIATIONS - 22 classic and
newly recorded interpretations of Alex North's Spartacus Love Theme -
featuring Bill Evans, Yusef Lateef, Carlos Santana, Lalo Schifrin, Dave Grusin,
Mark Isham, Alexandre Desplat and many others! Newly recorded in Los Angeles,
New York, London, Paris and Tenerife!

I guess right now, my original CD will work (which is probably a re-recording,
I am not sure). I will wait until next year when they release a 3 CD set of
just the stereo tracks and the complete mono version

.

This will make a lot of people happy, since there are soo many people wanting it,
but I can not wait to hear all the complains! There will be endless complaints!!!

Will save my money for Intrada's releases too

I have seen Spartacus (the movie) once,20 years ago and it is a great movie but even if the Cd would cost $20 , I wouldnt buy it as that music is not anything I value...
it is great that so many loves it and a company gives the score the royal treatment, but for me, this is another monday...
Then I would have paid $100 for Intradas Rocky IV if it had come to that so thats the kind of nut I am...
We all have different taste thats all...
I´ll anticipate Intradas and LLLR releases instead and hopes something in their batch will interest my money

Talk about padding. All anybody ever asked for was the complete score. There's two discs out of the six I would ever listen to. I think they may have made a serious misstep here by not offering a standard and a deluxe set simultaneously. :cry:

same for me,
as much as i like this score, i'll stay with my decca release.
to much that i did not want and to expansive for 2 discs i really "need".

The packaging and its contents are going to be superb. I think Varese Sarabande deserves more credit than it tends to get. This was likely a very, very expensive endeavor. I've ordered mine. Thanks, Bob.

Well people will vote for this release with their wallets, that's the only vote that counts. It's a big, pass from me. I hope it sells well, as the more money they make, the more money they'll have to release old soundtracks.

I'm very happy so many people are excited about this release, and I congratulate Mr. T. on a monumental package. It's not in the cards for me at the moment, I'm afraid. A two or three disc budget alternative might have pried open my wallet, but I'll have to admire this one from afar for a while. At least there's a generous supply of them for the time being!

Great news for me! A friend just ordered it and is going to let me
listen to the first 4 CDs of the set (those are the only ones I want
to hear). Then I will see if I will need it! One listen will probably still
be enough to say, still too much! Now, if I can convince him to
purchase the Rozsa Box!

Oh well, back to listening to Cloak & Dagger! (Great score and it
was only $20 with a 12 page insert!!) Thanks, Intrada!

Let me see, 1 Varese score ($110) or 5 Intrada scores ($100)?
I think right now, I will take the 5 Intrada scores!
