Intrada Soundtrack Forum

I am really enjoying this score, a lot. It reminds me of a clever throwback to his piano-driven, melodic days of Searching for Bobby Fischer and the likes, except with added synths. Over-all, this is a fantastic score. it's too bad they'll be no CD.

Any thoughts?

I am taking it that it will be available for download only?
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas was only a download and after seeing the
movie I had to get it, but I will probably not get Karate Kid.
I have downloaded 2 scores (Pajamas and Up) and 1 song and that is it!
I will wait for the physical CD! Hopefully it will be released overseas!

If there is a CD released overseas, then I'll get that. Until then, I guess I will purchase the CD-R that's listed on Amazon.

It doesn't reach the emotional heights of Conti's original... and it doesn't really contain any significantly memorable themes. I think it will be a serviceable score but ultimately forgotten.

Yes I agree, the music was OK but I do not feel the emotions the same way as from Contis Karate Kid.
This sounds so...ordinary, and the whole project seems so unnecessary. if this is Horners follow up to Avatar, I must say I hoped for more...Not a bad score at all, but it leaves me

Karate Kid is a real shame !



James has written the most beautiful score of the year for the movie Karate Kid. So why doesn't it simply deserve a proper CD release ?! I just don't see why ? I'm really mad, because it's such a great work of art, just thrown like that on the web !
Times change ! But James Horner still does magic ! The main theme (yes there is one, very obvious ! ) is a pure beauty !

Very uplifting in parts. The finale cues are fantastic. A real powerhouse.

I AM COMPLETELY IN LOVE with this score ! Man this is so terrific music, James Horner is outstanding, it's a real moment of truth for James Horner, it really is ! I can't stop humming the main theme now...
I'm even more disappointed that it won't have a CD release. I'am feeling so sad about it, while the music makes me so happy ! The CD is dying but not film music, a classic is born !

I've just received the amazon CDR from Intrada () and I must say, this is a beautiful release ! The covers are as pro as an officially pressed CD and the sound quality is absolutely lossless. As it is a CDR, more sensitive to time deterioration, I've done a back up copy on an external hard drive, just in case... But I'm really delighted to be able to listen to James Horner's gorgeous score on my hifi system in full CD quality...

This CD was given to me yesterday (the actual CD-R from Amazon, not a copy of it) and
I must say, it really is not that great. It has it moments, but it just does not have the impact as the Conti Karate Kids scores had. Maybe that will come with time after watching the film, but right now it is just an average Horner score.
