Since you haven't seen RoboCop (that's right, the "C" in Cop should be capitalized!) the one thing you should ask yourself in case you decide to watch is how much of a tolerance you have for graphic, and I mean graphic violence.

Not "Horror movie" violence with some slasher-killer running around cutting people's heads off but brutal, bloody gunfire.

The film was rated "X" for its violence (the language is intense if that sort of thing is also a concern) and some cuts were made to give it an "R" rating, but those cut scenes were restored to three DVD releases of the film. The intention was to be so over-the-top with it that it would be seen as almost comical, and the primary graphic scene was designed to be as brutal as possible to create a stronger sense of empathy for the character, not to mention a deliberate parallel with a certain religious icon.

I suspect that had he actually played Indiana Jones his movie career would have been terrific. I also think he became so identified with his role as Thomas Magnum it was tough for many movie fans to see him as someone else.

I beg your pardon if I am here again, in this lovely living room, writing bad things (and of course insulting the hosts) but I found the door still opened.

OK, obviously I ordered my copy of Robocop (and Jack The Giant Killer too) and I am without doubt very happy that Intrada released it expanded.

Yes I say "expanded", and not "complete" as specified by Intrada, because I think 16 seconds about of music are missing on the new CD. I am talking about that passage introducing the main titles: I hear it at least on the DVD and this is the sample, if you are interested in listening to: http://www.divshare.com/download/11046988-d75 .

The main titles on the Varèse CD - without the mentioned introduction - are 0’39” long.
Accordingly the "complete main titles" should be (0’16 + 0’39 =) 0’55” long. But 0’45” are not enough to contain everything on the new Intrada edition.

Now what I would like to ask is:

Am I right?
If so, why is this music missing?
Maybe was not it composed by Poledouris for the score?

I'm no expert on this particular project, Nicola, but those 16 seconds sound like ambient sound design to me. In other words, special effects added into the film independent of the score recording sessions. The acoustic and electronic textures blend nicely with the similar textures Poledouris built into his music -- a testament to the film's good sound design -- but that doesn't make them part of the score proper.
