New Varese Club Batch!

I've been playing the new CDs all day - and all night, come to that. I didn't expect to enjoy any batch of Varese Club releases better than the last one but this one really lights my fire - or something.

Robert Townson's liner notes for "Hard Contract" made me think how awesome it must be to be him, or Douglass Fake or MV Gerhard or any of the rest. He tells of Tivo-ing the film "Hard Contract" several years ago because it was an Alex North score he'd never heard, watching it, and being blown out of the water to the extent that he declared to himself that he WOULD get this music out on CD. Damn, I wish I could do that!

I got them as well. Stellar batch. I checked out LONELY ARE THE BRAVE...probably one of the best mono recordings I've ever heard. RIGHT STUFF sounds great as well, although a little disappointed they left the end title off. Haven't gotten to the others yet.

and
LONELY ARE THE BRAVE
are astoundingly good.

I think that LATB is actually in stereo, which would explain why it sounds so great.
