I've never seen this film nor heard the score before, but those samples got me hooked instantly. Not that I really even needed to listen to them to make up my mind. It's Goldsmith, for crying out loud! Needless to say...

Thanks for this one, Doug and Roger. I was not aware of the tape and vinyl sources on my SLC edition, so I am happy to get the Intrada release. Your mastering is always great! Given that you have tapped into the RCA masters, I will remain hopeful that one day we may see THE SILENCERS (Bernstein), MURDERER'S ROW (Schifrin) and HURRY SUNDOWN (Montenegro) released around the same time. Apologies if the latter statement should have been in the suggestions portal; I am on a short timeline. :wink:

Thanks, Doug, Roger et al. It's great to have this one back in print in master quality sound at long last. Rotten news that the film masters have gone missing, meaning I'll never thrill to the actual end of "Battle Theme", and that great electronic flavored cue for the Japanese fleet's running of the Pala Passage followed by the PT boats cranking up for battle. This one in complete form would have been terrific, but I'll settle for this wonderful iteration of the album presentation

I hope the liner notes give some of the story behind the unused "One Way Ticket" cue, one of the high points of the original LP.
