LOST is one of my favourite Billy Wilder films. Rozsa captures the darker emotions of our humanity superbly. I could see some of Rozsa's cues having application as music therapy in some detox programmes. The "Delerium" cue might scare patients into sobriety. Hard to imagine that Rozsa apparently was a teetotaller approaching the subject of alcoholism. Scary musical stuff during the withdrawal sequences. The frantic desperation (and tragedy) in Don Birnam's attempts to pawn his typewriter to get money to buy alcohol always gets me. Of the recordings out there, [I have them all.], the one I prefer is still the Tony Thomas release of the original tracks, even though the sound is archival. There is an edge in Rozsa's conducting that the others lack. The Tsunami boot was likely lifted from the Tony Thomas lp. Speaking of which, I also like very much Rozsa's BLOOD ON THE SUN score, again released on vinyl by Tony Thomas. The Anchor Bay DVD (sadly, colourized) of BLOOD is worth tracking down just for the Rozsa score. The sound is quite good. The film, now dated, is a bit of a xenophobic hoot, given how the times have changed.
