Intrada Soundtrack Forum

This is truly another phenomenal release form the great Intrada team. I do hope wer're now on the verge of seeing older Horner scores finally getting released.

And I'm thrilled Mr. Horner took the time to prepare this new album master with Simon Rhodes. As other posters have mentioned it before, it does add something special to this release. Who said composers are usually not interested at all in revisiting their older scores ?

I'm really looking forward to listening to this wonderful gem, with an incredible performance by the LSO. I think they really worked for their money with this one.

There's another 1989 score by Horner I really like, still unreleased: In Country: splendid final scene, with the best of Horner's emotional, rich scoring. Wouldn't it make a nice album someday ?

In the meantime: kudos to you all !

The matter of respect regards the film score: the music as heard in the movie.
The matter of taste regards your personal preferences.

About First Blood, you can “…respect how the music was re-arranged for its presentation on the album…” but they did not respect the music as it plays in the movie. Is not so difficult to understand what I mean.

I am not “accusing” the composer, I am accusing the CD producer – although they are the same person. Ok?:roll:

And again: I do not care what the composer written and intended originally! What I want is the music from the movie!!

Did I just read Mr Fake use the word "anal"?

I know I'm making a too-broad spectrum statement here: it's nothing personal, and I know that by being general it will appear as if I'm railing against every- and anybody. Which is decidedly not the case.

I am once again amazed at how many actually concentrate on the shortcomings, imagined or real, of a release such as Honey. Why is it that in the film music "community" (I use quotes here for a reason), so much focus is always on the 5% that may be less than perfect, instead of the 95% there are?

Missing track that's available on a bootleg? Shut the fuck up and keep your bootleg.

Missing, oh, 15-second track that (a) simply couldn't be located, (b) was in too deteriorated condition to be used, (c) the composer him/herself decided not to put on the CD? Fault of the label, which is deliberately ripping off collectors.

Spelling mistake of a word in line 26 on pg. 7? End of the world!

Chronological order of the tracks? Heresy.

Non-chronological order of the tracks? Lunacy!

You can't hear the piccolo line 25 seconds in track 13 due to remixing that makes all the other music sound much better? Bunches up your panties.



I know I'm being overly dramatic and sarcastic here, but I don't care. Many posters here are undoubtedly fine human beings, who appreciate the efforts Intrada have put forth in order to bring us previously unavailable music. I join the ranks of those of you who applaud Mr Fake, Mr Feigelson and the legions (OK, maybe not legions) of Intrada hamsters who put their time, effort and, not least, large sums of money out there to find old and new music, give it the best presentation possible, work with studios and composer, to release CDs many of us will be happy about. But I can't help but wonder if there mightn't be a point where Mr Fake will decide to throw in the towl because of all the petty complaints, accusations and insults.

I guess it's a good thing that he's both such a jolly fellow and has got a thick skin.

OK, rant over. If you feel insulted by what I've written above, my apologies. You are free to PM me about this, if you feel so inclined. Now, please excuse me, I need to find another university where to pursue my PhD at...

I have to wonder how many CDs are absolutely complete and chronological, at least with reguards to the score itself. I know I've often seen cases where one or two cues may be out of order for some reason (mentioned in the linar notes), especially from FSM. ANd of course, often a few small cues are missing. When you start getting into sound tracks to new movies, the ratio goes waaaaaaaay down.
As a complestist it's kinda annoying, but on the other hand taking it to levels of the poster above me is silly. I have passed on scores because of what's missing (The Sandlot for instance) but in cases like this it's not the worst thing in the world. I can't imagine much of what's missing is all that different anyway.
