But an accident left the King broken-hearted, the Princess filled with longing and the townsfolk without their soup. Sunlight disappeared. The world become gray. All hope was lost in this land...until Despereaux Tilling was born. In this tale of bravery, forgiveness, and redemption, one small creature will teach a kingdom that it takes only a little light to show the truth: what you look like doesn't equal what you are. Even the tiniest mouse can find the courage of a knight in shining armor. From visionary filmmaker Gary Ross, this modern fairy tale features the voice talents of Matthew Broderick, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Watson, Tracey Ullman, and Robbie Coltrane.

Alongside Despereaux on his adventure is composer William Ross, who armed Despereaux with a substantial symphonic score rich in melody and filled with heartfelt themes and exciting action. The music is colorful, capturing the period detail of the movie, yet featuring serious dynamic and intense music. Following nearly an hour of William Ross' symphonic splendor are two songs by Dave Stewart, Glen Ballard, and Gary Ross. The crisp recording is mixed by veteran Armin Steiner, who has recorded substantial scores for John Williams, Bruce Broughton, Henry Mancini, and many other legendary film composers.

This is really great news ! William Ross has recently created a very moving score for September Dawn and I wondered why it had to be limited and why not even 1000 persons got interested in this magnificent score, since this CD isn't sold out yet.
Now that Intrada is releasing his new score, I'm happy to see the title isn't limited. I'll pick this one for sure in my next order ! can't wait for the sound clips ! Thank you Intrada !

I'll be buying this for sure, William Ross is an excellent composer, then after I get it, I'm sending it to him to sign!!

I saw the film at a screening this week and it's wonderful. For a computer animated film, it never felt like one. It really felt like a traditionally animated film.

Especially good is the score by William Ross. The dramatic/action cues are really exciting and he's given a lot of room to really shine throughout the film.

Whoever decided to scrap the songs made a great choice as the film didn't need them and Mr. Ross' music really carries the film.

Can't wait to hear Intrada's CD.

I liked the Ross score, especially the heroic fanfares while Despereaux is reading the book. The film itself suffers from too many plotlines being crammed into 90 minutes... it's not down there with Flushed Away but it's a long way from Ratatouille.
