I have no problem with what Lukas did. He explained his story and I accept it. I have no reason to doubt any of the labels and how they choose to conduct their business. It's all about the music to me.
And when you buy out of print CDs on a secondary market you do so at your own financial risk. You never know when or if it might see a re-issue.
I missed out on Intrada's expanded Poltergeist II score. I had the short 30 minute version. Well I finally found a copy on eBay for $70.00 and I went ahead and bought it. I'll be damned if a month later Varese announces they are releasing it again, with extra music. Was I mad? No. Yeah I know Omega was limited but it was limited to that pressing. He went back and fixed some problems that he wanted to do.
I believe Lukas has already mentioned that if he found the rest of the missing elements to The Satan Bug, that were only available in the current form, he would redo that one as well. Would that upset everyone?
What if the missing elements from Damnation Alley were found? Would that make everyone who purchased the Goldsmith at Fox box set upset?
If FSM's On Dangerous Ground were to sell out tomorrow and 5 months later Lukas announced he was re-releasing it because they found a much better source than the ones used for the original release I would be as happy as you could imagine.
He's trying to get the music out to us in the best possible form and sound available. I applaud him for taking the risk.
