I'm very surprised to see some really attractive scores from high profile composers and or movies, limited to a derisive quantity, not having sold out yet, sometimes for years !
With the success of the Predator scores I had certainly thought this would have gone in a wink since it’s Alan Silvestri in Predator style, writing suspenseful nervous scoring with loud brasses and great syncopated rythmic !
I’m astonished this isn’t sold out yet ! The sets contain a fantastic collection of scores from all the most beloved film composers, scores in the 80’s tradition (melodic, orchestrally rich, great mixes with synth). Each little movie hides a tremendous heroic or tender, magic, dark, funny, etc, score from Horner, Goldsmith, Broughton, Williams, Silvestri, Elfman, Kamen, Delerue, Safan, Rubinstein, Newman, and so on ! Honestly who would have imagined such a golden treasure staying in stocks for years ?
And I thought big bombastic thematic, melodic, richly orchestral and choral fantasy/adventure scores were selling… I was wrong about both !
Wow, I’m amazed ! John Williams writing an epic, dramatic, powerful and rich score in the middle of the 80’s, though not finding only 3000 owners… Now this must be the 5th dimension…
A warmful E.T. like movie gets the big adventure scoring treatment from Bruce Broughton. I can’t believe people are begging to death for a Young Sherlock Holmes CD and don’t get their hands on such a competitor !
Now I had been really scared not having a chance to ever get this one. One of the biggest movies of the decade, with a big adventure score full of gorgeous melodies, epic moments and fond memories ! I had been waiting my whole life for it to happen and the day it was released I was on vacation and couldn’t get an internet access ! I was certain to miss out, but to my big surprise the CD was still available… and still is !
