Of the Wendy Carlos & Weird Al collaboration,
Since it was a parody of two classical pieces that were written for orchestra and narrator... the narration is sorta part of the deal.
I have this disc and really the pairing of the two talents makes it all worth while. Carlos' music on this particular classical project, while effective, is not very special or interesting by itself. No offense to Wendy intended.
And
It, Invaders From Mars, just arrived today.....
I'm just looking at it this spectacular release,
I realize that this transcends the Signature Edition moniker which several other individuals already noticed.
This should have been touted as a Special Collection title of 2000 copies since it literally is a collection of music from two composers for a potential blockbuster film... which crashed & burned.
I can understand how this happened though,
with soooo much coming through so fast,
the categorizing just got out of hand.
No matter what you call it,
it's still a memorably minor masterpiece,
thanks for assembling this one guys!!!
PS: Wow, this IS a great release because it sheds sooo much light on both electronic scores.
They are literally like night and day, Young's is so complex and harsh and Storrs' is so subtle and serene and even more intriguing in its unedited form.
I never would have dreamed that Intrada would be the label to expand two of my old ENIGMA Records LPs (DELTA FORCE being the other),
but you did it...
Thank you.
