Intrada Soundtrack Forum

I don't like downloads, & have never downloaded. I can understand large record companies liking them, it's an easy way to make a buck - they don't have to get anything made. But for small companies like Intrada to go down that route, just to satisfy those would be buyers, who's life is just too full & interesting to log on at the right time.......I don't think so.

It's quite interesting that Invaders From Mars sold out so quickly; maybe it's a sign of the times that these limited editions of 1000 to 1500 copies now all seem to sell like hotcakes no matter what they are.
I'm familiar with Christopher Young's suite and while I think it's totally fascinating music, I'd have expected it to be very much away from the "mainstream". (Okay, 1200 copies isn't exactly in the Madonna sales category, but still...)
It's more like challenging accoustic material than a conventional "movie score". Perhaps it's the great way this music is released, with Young's original score, his own additional (and more conventional) music, and the additional score composed by David Storrs. Christopher Young is a very good composer, though. I absolutely adore his superb though unused score for An Unfinished Life, perhaps my favorite Varese album of recent years.

I'm familiar with the actual movie score inside the movie, and I think many people who bought this blindly, or only on the name of Chris Young, or only because it was selling out fast, will be disappointed with the atonal and hermetic qualities of this synthetic score (so I'm predicting a ton of these ending up on ebay LOL).
I'm very interested in this because it reminds me of the movie that I enjoy quite much since my childhood and because of the similarities with Brad Fiedel's work on The Terminator 2 years earlier. I just like atonal electronic music from the 80's. This was in my opinion a very brief but fascinating musical genre.
