This thread also reminds me of the time I saw "Edward Scissorhands". As I was walking out of the theater a group was walking beside me. One member asked another "So, what did you think?". The other member replied "It was OK, I guess, but it wasn't very realistic.". I guess the fact that the entire film was a fantasy escaped him. Similar thing with "Sleeping With the Enemy". The Main Titles show Julia Roberts digging for clams while Jerry Goldsmiths beautiful, aching and searching music is actually telling you a lot about the character. You know this woman is sad and lovely and sweet and that she is searching for something. No dialogue, just music. Two women sitting behind me talked throughout the entire sequence and then started asking each other questions about the character once the film started. If they had simply listened, they would have already known alot. I know I sound like I'm bitching, but it can be annoying - especially after hearing it many times throughout the years.
