Why are there so few Horner releases by Intrada, FSM etc.?

To that terrific list of unreleased Horner, I would add The Dresser. Since it is such a short (and achingly beautiful) score, I always thought that would make a nice companion piece on a cd featuring the equally beautiful Testament.

Although I'm a huge Tangerine Dream fan, few of these scores would interest me much, as a few of their scores were pretty much by the numbers scoring for a paycheck.

"Forbidden" is different from you might expect from TD however, it's a quite nice piano driven score, very nice. Streethawk would be a fine release and a fast seller no doubt.

We can forget about ever getting a proper release of The Keep - it's Paramount. But damn it is maybe the most evocative and atmospheric electronic score ever.

No need for snobbery however - FSM released CHIPS & KNIGHT RIDER for cryin out loud...Intrada did DELTA FORCE...they might be fun scores but they're junky... two only stand out due to the name Silvestri. I'm glad Delta Force sold out, but my God at over 70 minutes it's painful. You can't put a quality arguement into play as long as Chips, Knight Rider and Delta Force are in the mix

Mike, I agree with you completely concerning The Keep. That is the one TD score that I would love to have released. I'm not a big electronics score fan, but there are exceptions. Most anything by Vangelis is notable. His score to Blade Runner is still a seamless marriage of sight and sound. But being a HUGE Goldsmith fan, I've found his electronic scores to be mostly dull and flat. He did wonders with using electronics as a companion to orchestral color though.

I don't want to sound ungrateful but I mean we're getting even the cheapest uninspired Goldsmith synth scores nowadays (because so much of his music is released now) but nothing from a composer who has become the one with most (good) unreleased older scores over the last couple of years. These scores can't all be owned by Disney or Paramount, are they?

Mark, I couldn't agree with you more. There have been limited and special releases of scores that I have no interest in and I see them sell out quickly. It makes me feel good because I know that some people's dreams have come true, just like mine did with the release of Goldsmith's Baby.
