I'm throwing my hat in for Vol.1. It really does have the widest range of talent. And as an "over-all" listening experience, I tend to listen to this collection more than the other two.

But everyone is right here, you can't go wrong with any of them. They are hands down the best representation of all these composers and beat any "best-of" collection available today.

These would make the greatest starter kit for anyone just getting into soundtracks.

Well, this is creepy, since I just dug out Vol. 1 to play this morning.

They're ALL good, and all must haves - there are such gems on each one - the Newman & Goldsmith on Vol. 2, that long lost Kamen gem on Vol. 3 - but, I must say Vol.1 also - there seems to just be the widest variety on this set.

The good thing is that once you have Vol. 1, you'll have to have the rest!

They are ALL worth getting, the first one has Alamo Jobe on it, I think, Dorothy and Ben is another good one, Sata 85, the Mission, all on different discs. Maybe start with number 3 and hopefully save up and get the other 2.
