Badelt is a great way to describe much of todays generic scoring output.
As, occasionally, we are DELT something BAD (Or more accurately BLAND).

Instead of something brilliant like SATURN 3.

May I echo all the praising posts yet once again. This is really a magnificent release, but, then, what else am I going to think of a vintage Elmer Bernstein score ?

I am listening to this again just now, and have to say that SATURN 3 is one of my favorite all time Elmer Bernstein scores by now. Call me an oddball, but it's true.
Since the movie was so off-beat and dopey, the score isn't as well known or received as MAGNIFICENT SEVEN or TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD or THE GREAT ESCAPE (all great scores), but the music of SATURN 3-- for me -- is right up there with those classic and classy scores. It's very original in Bernstein's output and, at least for me, a very intriguing listening experience. I thoroughly enjoy Bernstein here on Goldsmith territory, with his own take at a science fiction feature, complete with eerie orchestral effects, electronic coloring and rasping choir timbres.

The resurrection of this thread and topic sure brings back a lot of good memories- a special, good transitional time in my life. Wow, 4 years ago.

It's a fine score, I liked it on receipt.
