Hi, I don't normally post messages, here or anywhere else these days, but after such an incredible release, I just had to say thanks for the new Jerry Goldsmith Baby CD. It's enough to make you believe in miracles, and this just a few short months after the 2 CD release of Alien! I have read a few of the other comments here, and while we should all just enjoy this new release (when it arrives), it is impossible not to wonder if long cherrished and/or lusted after scores will finally be available at some point. As my username obviously suggests, I am first and foremost a John Barry fan, so this new Baby CD makes me wonder if an expanded release of The Black Hole is finally possible??? If you want another runaway (pun intended) success like Baby, The Black Hole would be a good bet as it also seems to appeal to score collectors outside the usual hardcore Barry fans.
Before I go, here is a list of some titles (in no particular order and not related to Disney) that I think are worthy of consideration for CD release, in complete, original form:
The Stunt Man - Dominic Frontiere
Hanover Street - John Barry
The Reincarnation of Peter Proud - Jerry Goldsmith
Marathon Man - Michael Small
Gold - Elmer Bernstein
The Dove - John Barry
It Takes A Thief - Dave Grusin (TV)
Charade - Henry Mancini (the film score, not the album material)
The Promise - David Shire
McMillan & Wife - Jerry Fielding (TV)
The only reason Shaft's Big Score and Raise The Titanic are not included above are because I'm told the master tapes are sadly lost.
Anyway, enough rambling. A huge thank you, for the Baby CD (and for The Swashbuckler, Silverado, Amazing Stories, The Wind and the Lion, The Driver/The Star Chamber, Capricorn One, and of course, for Mary Queen of Scots, and The Last Valley).
