The entire score from Nate and Hayes is missing!!!! :)

Last night I was watching Rocky V on MGMHD and it dawned on me that there are some really cool cues that Bill Conti devised from re-working original Rocky themes and adding some electronic, hip-hop sounding rhythms. That would be a nice score to see come to light someday.

Not only was Jerry Goldsmith's stunning score for "Dog Day Afternoon" left off of the album, and left out of the film, it was actually left off of Goldsmith's composition sheets! I wonder what sort of legal issue preventing us from hearing this (undoubtedly) remarkable effort?

Back at ya later

Boy , i would love to have the great cue from the opening sequence of THE THIN RED LINE.

It is an orchestrated version of one of the native chants and plays over scenes of Whit cavorting with the Melanesian people.

justbeeyoootiful!

I think that there are at least two unreleased cues from HOOSIERS that are deserving of an expanded release:

- "First Game" - underscores Hackman's first game (duh!) as Hickory's coach, including his decision to play with four players instead of putting Ray back in after he didn't follow the game plan of passing the ball before shooting.

- "The Kiss" - sensitive underscoring for Hackman/Hershey's walk leading up to their first kiss.

The Book from Raiders of the Lost Ark - the wonderful introduction of the 'Ark' theme.

Trek to Pankot Palace from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - along with the other 70 minutes of unreleased music from this score!

Preparing the Trap from Alien 3 - the lengthiest unreleased cue from the score. An expanded release could easily fill a 79 minute disc.

The film version of Escape from the City from Williams' War of the Worlds - I love the chattering muted trombone writing in this.

I would say,, it is important to note that many of these cues you guys are talking about are fabrications by music editors.. The case and point woudl be the Alien 3 cue of "setting the trap",, I have the paper score to that film,, and I don't see that cue.. I think it was pieced together by a music editor and not EG.. As a composer, I know how it is when it comes time to release a CD, we want the cue that was written for the film not some edited mess that ends up in a film..

I can tell you for my next CD (THE GENE GENERATION),, 98% of the score was chopped up for the film (luckily they asked me to do it and not some random editor). It had to be done because they re-edited the film after I had finished the entire score to the "first cut" (and the one that we saw at the premiere).. For the CD, the tracks will be from my pre-edited score only not the chopped up thing that ended up in the final cut of the film..

Just keep in mind,, some of these cues you hear in these films really do not exist as stereo pre-mastered tracks,, they could be some edited together tracks by a music editor in storage that the composer doesn't even have access too!

"The Ultimate War" in Hook lasts twice as long in the film as it does on the album; both that and the end credits would have been welcome inclusions. And while we're on John Williams omissions, this isn't technically a missing cue but I've always preferred the film version of the end credits from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom to the album version of same. Mulan's CD is missing a lot of great battle music (and it's not like it couldn't have fit on the album). And dammit, why couldn't recording schedules have been sorted out so we could have gotten the climax cues from The Mummy Returns?
