1/ HD players are backward-compatible and will play any DVD.
2/ The second Hulk movie is being made by I-don't-remember-the-name, with Edward Norton as Dr. Banner.
3/ I saw a scene from Peter Jackson's King Kong in HD in a store last year, and it was amazing; the amount of detail was incredible, and it was all very clear and "readable".
I'm still waiting for the dust to settle down definitively, the hardware specifications to be definitive, and the prices for the whole thing (TV + player + speakers) to be more in my range.
Whereas I did upgrade a good many of my VHS tapes to DVD, I won't upgrade every DVD to HD when the time comes; I will pick my most favorite ones, and among them, those that will benefit from HD the most.
The "problem" is for new movies: buy the DVD? wait for a bargain price on the DVD? wait to get it in HD?
In the meantime, there are some good deals to be found on DVD; while HD would surely be better, and the difference might be big in the future when I switch from watching HD to watching SD, I think the SD DVD would have to have a really awful transfer for the viewing experience and pleasure to be considerably lessened by that difference (and then, there is to much-lanuded upconversion, which I am very curious too see in effect).
