An ALIEN question for Doug... or Roger...or anyone else!

Could someone post which tracks from the ALIEN 2-disc set were the tracks that were actually IN the FILM?!?!

One of the nice touches in the liner notes is that for each cue it is mentioned how, when and where the music JG wrote was used.

Only ONE cue has the designation "used in film".
Humorously, the writer put an exclamation point at the end
"used in film!"

To be more specific, only one cue was used intact and not disected.

The liner notes state how many seconds of each cue that made an appearance in the final cut.

I got ALIEN for Christmas but held it over until this morning so I could kick off 2008 with it. And it's fantastic. Really amazing music. I haven't done more than skim the notes yet but they look pretty comprehensive.

Oh, if I had to nitpick (and I don't want to, really), I'd have liked the Hanson on the end rather than the Mozart. For years, the Hanson piece has been, and for me still is, THE end title to the movie, whereas the Mozart is just a snatch of source music.

But the Goldsmith, heard and unheard, album and film tracks, is all great and it sounds great as well. Another CDR heads for the landfill. (I'm keeping one of my old Silva discs as it was signed by The Man.)

I think the original recording of Hanson's Symphony #2 was conducted by Charles Gerhardt.

I have no idea whether they used gerhardt or not, but his recording is excellent and it's available on a chesky cd called great american composers which also has some music from Copland.
