I received Alien this morning, complete with Harry and the Hendersons. Bravo Intrada and thanks again to those wonderful hamsters: fast service!

This new album is a revelation, indeed. Not only is the sound quality infinitely better than the old Silva CD, but listening to the chronological assembly puts the whole score in a completely different perspective. So much detail and complexity!

I knew the original album was brilliant, but listening this new assembly is simply astounding. Jerry Goldsmith's dark symphony had been begging for such a loving restoration for almost thirty years now. Bravo to Nick, Michael, Doug and Roger and the whole Intrada team for giving us the opportunity to enjoy such a recording.

Now, if only awards were bestowed on soundtrack labels...

We're up to our third re-pressing on THE WIND AND THE LION
and the first 3000 copies of ALIEN didn't even last a week!

According to mr. Fake, in his column, they are selling well,
although he doesn't say (understandable in business perspective)
how many are pressed in the second or even third pressings...

I hope that Intrada is going strong, they certainly deserved it.

I've been listening to ALIEN for a couple of hours now. The discs are such a wonderful revelation. I was fascinated to learn where "The Terrain" was intended to be used. It makes so much sense now...it IS treking across hostile wasteland music. Also, I'm amazed that the scene where Dallas and Lambert pull up Kane from the hatchery was shot...much less scored! I enjoyed this scene in the book (even though the facehugger has an "eye" that stares at them), and it's exciting to know there's footage out there of it!

And a cocoon sequence was scored?! Crazy. I'd love to see the assembly that Jerry wrote this masterpiece to.

Thanks again for the countless hours of audio awesomeness!

I finally received it (it only took a week, but what a wait!) this morning!
Unfortunately, I had to wait another couple of hours before playing it for the first time.

The sound is superb, and the music is splendid.

This booklet is also the most beautifully designed of Intrada's releases, and extremely interesting, surely ranking among the very very best produced by any label.

I especially liked reading Mike Matessino's detailed explanations on the orchestration (my reading of the notes, track by track, often appeared to be wonderfully synchronized with the music, each instrument entering when announced); Goldsmith's composing & orchestrating genius is more obvious and most clearly revealed (the only page that does require a bit of musical knowledg, which I sorely like, is the one on the music's "DNA", but even then I think that, after seeing it mentionned throughout the notes, I finally understood what a whole tone is).

Many many many astronomically gigantic thanks, Intrada !
