As I posted on FSM, as a fan of the 60s-70s-80s era of Barry, Goldsmith, Schifrin and Morricone, 2007 has been a year of wishes coming true.
Between FSM, Intrada and the new Tribute label, many great scores from this great era in film music have come out in 2007.
My number one CD of the year so far is The Last Valley, even though it's only the album. (But then again Barry is my favourite composer and this one of his 5 best scores.)
Other great wishes-come-true include, of course, Wind And The Lion, Alien and 2001.
I'd like to say to Intrada, congratulations on making this one of the best years for "classic era" soundtrack releases in recent memory.
Long may it continue.
And though interest in Barry may be on the decline now (I remember a time when Barry was about the most popular guy out there), more classic-era Barry please, if that's possible. That's my selfish plea.
Cheers
