Last week I paid more money than I ever have for a single CD for John Scott's score for "The Deceivers". I gotta admit I had second, third, fourth, and even fifth thoughts about the transaction but it arrived today, I've been playing it for the past hour and I've more than justified my extravagance. In my own head, anyway.
To select just one example, the track entitled "Defeat of the Deceivers" which accompanies the climactic cavalry charge contains some of the most thrilling music Scott ever wrote, IMnsHO, followed by some of the most heartbreakingly wistful. And then the End Credits.... *sigh* Wonderful stuff! I reacquainted myself with the film before taking the plunge on this thing and it's a shame Merchant-Ivory never availed themselves of Scott's services more than just this once.
So, has anyone else paid more than a sane person would for a CD and not regretted it one bit?
