Awesome release! Love Band's '80's scores!!!

But when are we going to get a release of Band's eclectic and fun soundtrack to TERRORVISION?

Just placed my order a little while ago.

Also, I put up a news blurb for this release at Tim Thomerson's site with a link to Intrada. I'm having trouble loading an image of the cover on the news page at the moment, but will get one up as soon as possible.

Thanks for this release guys.

Tai

The samples are terrific.

Richard Band is a way underappreciated/underrespected/underheralded composer, IMO.

I'm delightfully surprised by how much I'm enjoying "The Alchemist"! I liked "Troll" just fine but never really appreciated Band's other work that I'd sampled - mostly all-synth stuff, I should add, which isn't really my thing. "Alchemist" is right up there with "Crypt of the Living Dead" as far as low-budget horror scores that I grabbed on a whim but end up being a hoot go. For what it's worth, it's got my recommendation. :D

This one was waiting inside my mailbox this evening coming back from work. What a pleasant little gem this is. Nowadays, even big budget horror-fests are mostly synth-pad efforts. John Carpenter's early scores still are more inventive than 90% of the current horror scores.

How refreshing then to listen to Richard Band making the best of his tiny budget to come up with inventive orchestrations and a very evocative atmosphere. There's just a bit of Bernard Herrmann injected here and there: suits me just fine. Haven't listened to Zone Troopers yet.

Let's hope his great score for Mutant is in the pipeline somewhere. I wouldn't mind an expanded edition of this particular score.

Bravo, Intrada! Another winner...

Judging by Intrada's current series of reissued titles, MUTANT could be in the pipeline.

It's also interesting that, according to the CD liner notes, some of the MUTANT score was used in ZONE TROOPERS which explains why the score itself is so short. But, with that in mind, it raises another question...

Why didn't Intrada re-issue MUTANT with ZONE TROOPERS instead of THE ALCHEMIST?

It could either have been too costly due to different studio licensing OR MUTANT was too long to accommodate both scores on a single disc.

Regardless, an expanded MUTANT would be a great release.

This was just posted on the Perseverance Records website:

"We have just signed a deal with Richard Band to release his score to the horror cult film Mutant. I picked up the tapes from Richard this morning. We are doing a new digital transfer from the original tapes, so it is not quite clear yet if there will be more or different music on the album than what was on the Varese LP or the ensuing identical CD by Intrada. Plus, there is a surprise. Stay tuned for more."

BE

PS: Intrada's release of Mutant is a great presentation of this fine score, IMHO.

PPS: I bought it through Mr. Band's website a while ago, and he also autographed the CD for me :-).

Wow,
What a small world!

I do hope the new MUTANT remaster has more music along with that surprise 30 minute interview.
