Personally, I could not imagine this film being as memorable without the soundtrack by Giorgio Moroder, which by the way should have been released in full many years ago.

That said, I can't help but wonder what a Pino Donaggio score and songs would have been like if Bregman and De Palma had sought him for the project. He is very well versed in pop and thriller styled composition, so it could've been quite interesting no matter which direction he would have been ordered to go.

I often feel like this about other movie scores, especially when unfortunately the composer in question is no longer with us.

If Pino had been taken on to score Scarface it would have been an interesting listening experience for sure & no doubt would have already released by one label or another even with Universal's waiting game.

Giorgio Moroder became the sexy musical voice of drug films of the late 70s / early 80s, Midnight Express, Scarface, American Gigolo while Pino Donaggio was off on some bloody, murderous tangent with Tourist Trap, Piranha and Dressed To Kill.

I've always thought Hannibal should have been scored by Ennio Morricone instead of Hans Zimmer. The Onion Field should have been scored by Jerry Goldsmith instead of Eumir Deodato sounding like Elmer Goldsmith and Jerry Bernstein.

I always wonder what Live and Let Die, Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only would have sounded like if Barry had scored. I absolutely having a hard time envisioning any of them with a Barry score, too.
