Yeah, we've covered this before. When we released our first limited edition CD (First Blood) way back in 1988, we retailed it for $19.99. Fast forward over a quarter century later. We STILL sell our CDs for that price. But here's a big surprise... no other production costs in this industry have remained the same! We pay more for every part: royalties, mechanical licenses, element transfers, mixing, editing, mastering, printing, packaging, pressing, freight, marketing... to say nothing of other business overhead costs like leases, labor and so forth. Gosh! It doesn't take rocket science to see the margins have been squeezed into oblivion here. You're lucky that soundtrack labels have been absorbing all these costs over the years just to get this stuff out there.
Add Amazon to our ever-increasing costs. I'm sorry about the prices on Amazon going up but must admit, since you can still get the discs from us at the same old price AND you can actually help us keep more music coming by supporting us directly... well, I'm not all THAT unhappy that Amazon has become a more expensive route.
