Jerry Goldsmith's "CONTACT ON CHERRY STREET". Have not listened to this marvelous score in ages.

Seriously that score is one of my favorites and nobody seems to rate it highly. Prowling is maybe the highlight for me, but it's all great. Two other amazing scores that are totally underrated and also put out by Prometheus: Breakout and High Velocity. Seriously, these three are my favorite kind of Goldsmith. They've just got a special compositional edge to them or something. I listen to them more often than more famous scores like Capricorn One, Basic Instinct, L.A. Confidential, Rudy, The Wind and the Lion, Alien, hell probably even more than all the Treks (possible exception for Final Frontier).

There. Confession over now.

Flint! Some times you wait an age for a recording, & when you finally get it, you find that you don't listen to it that much. Not the case here, not a track I don't love, an instant desert island choice. And it sounds so good. I love the sixties obvious stereo sound, recording is all a bit too tasteful now, sounds just like a wide spread mono, give me the, one instrument in one ear & another instrument in the other ear. Two great LP's.

Predator 2 - Alan Silvestri
Searching for Bobby Fischer - James Horner
King Kong - John Barry (Dino's Konk make everyone cry!)
Peggy Sue Got Married - John Barry
The Black Hole - John Barry
Damnation Alley - Jerry Goldsmith (from the Fox Box)

And while they aren't on compact disc, I found myself going back and listening to both John Kander's gorgeously haunting main theme from "Still of the Night" (1982) and Johnny Mandel's End Title from "Deathtrap" (1982). What a double-soundtrack release that would make, given they were both thrillers released in the same year.
