In the last five years we've been spoilt rotten by the riches that Intrada et al have been able to release. The 80s in particular are now well represented to the extent that there are few widely sought after scores from that period (I can only think of YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES as the last much sought after score). Virtually all composers from that decade have had some form of release from the labels (even Vangelis!). Some people will turn their attention to the less sought after but still interesting scores. I can't help wondering what the labels' position is on possible Tangerine Dream releases. No one has released one of their titles yet, and there have been various posts on FSM down the years stating that they are unlikely to happen. I just wondered if Mr Fake and Mr Feigelson had any take on this? I've had a good look through their posts going back to day one and neither has said that TD releases are possible or impossible (perhaps no one on this forum has asked?). Their Manhunter release was very enjoyable, so there's a market out there for it I think. I'm hoping that someone might come out and say categorically 'we have tried but can't do them'.

Would either gentleman consider commenting?

Varese Sarabande has definitely released many TD scores.

THE KEEP is the only major title in their catalog that remains unreleased,
and given that it is from Paramount,
La-La Land might be the label do it.

Yes, quite a few Tangerine Dream scores have been released by Varese and some by Silva along with other labels. But, a good number of their biggest scores are now out-of-print and need to be bought on the used market if you want somewhat reasonable pricing.

There's a lot of TD stuff that should be released.

The Soldier needs a release, City Of Darkness , Red Heat ( the prison movie...Linda Blair in prison at that ! ) Rainbow Drive, Streethawk ...now granted these are not A list titles, but hell... Missing In Action got 3 CD's . Flashpoint was released but is OOP and the film tracks differ from the album

LEGEND needs a complete release, there's around 80 minutes of score or so in the picture, but yes THE KEEP is their dark ambient masterwork - apparently the legal rights are a nightmare no one wants to mess with.

But a nice 2 CD set sampling some of these films would be great. I'd say Tangerine Dream has a bigger fanbase than, say, a Richard Band, Jay Chattaway - there is a healthy TD audience out there who do discuss getting more of their movie work on CD. The actual chances of seeing more CD's are slim, but it would be a nice surprise.

Any expanded or unreleased TD pre-87 score would be incredibly cool.

In the last few months I rediscovered my old love for Tangerine Dream Soundtracks and i bought the following

NEAR DARK (Varese), SCORCERER (MCA) FIRESTARTER, LEGEND (Varese), WAVELENGTH (Varese), MIRACLE MILE, THIEF and one from Edgar Froese KAMIKAZE 1989 (a Little known Fassbinder Film and a very nice Score from one of the founders of TD) Check it Out! Very rare though!
